In providing many previously unknown sources, this volume constitutes the basis for a comprehensive analysis of the early years of the German Confederation. It documents the phase leading up to the opening of the Federal Convention, and its organization and working methods. It focuses on five central thematic areas to describe the efforts of the Bundestag to promote the organic growth and internal organization of the German Confederation.
